New in DeviceLock 5.6 (versus 5.53):
- Added support for the USB "white list". The white list allows you to authorize only specific devices that will not be locked regardless of any other settings.
- Added the "Report Permissions" function that allows you to generate a report concerning the permissions that have been set. You can see which users are assigned for what device, which parameters in "Security Settings" are disabled, and what devices are on the "USB White List" on all the computers across your network.
- Now DeviceLock® is able to block CD/DVD burning programs (such as Roxio Easy Media Creator) which are using non-standard drivers.
- Fixed problem with USB scanners.
- Major internal and interface improvements.
Existing customers that are still within their one-year free maintenance period can use this new version without any fee!
DeviceLock® is a unique security solution on the market that lets System Administrators restrict access to USB, FireWire, WiFi (802.11) and Bluetooth devices on Windows 2000/XP and Windows Server 2003. Standard access control solutions coming with Windows operating systems do not allow the assignment of permissions for any of these ports or devices. Anyone can bring and plug a tiny device (such as 40GB MP3 player) and download tens of gigabytes of proprietary information. You do not have to be an administrator to use one of these devices, and you can not manage USB and FireWire devices via Group Policy.
DeviceLock® provides System Administrators control over which users can access certain devices on a local computer. You do not need to physically remove or block any hardware. All you need is to install the software and assign the appropriate privileges to each user or user group.
DeviceLock® significantly reduces the total cost of network management in enterprise environments by enabling IT personnel to control user access to floppy drives, other removable media, CD-ROM drives, tape devices, external hard drives, WiFi cards, Bluetooth devices or USB, FireWire, infrared, serial and parallel ports. What you get is the full control over which users, when and how will be able to use devices inside your corporate network.
DeviceLock® helps hospitals and health practiotioners to achieve HIPAA compliance and operate in a secure environment.
Being extremely user friendly, DeviceLock® does not require administrators to pore over help manuals just to learn how to use this program effectively.
